Uganda
Uganda is a landlocked country located in East Africa, with an estimated population of about 48 million people. It is bordered by South Sudan to the north, Kenya to the east, Tanzania to the south, Rwanda to the southwest, and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west. Known as the “Pearl of Africa,” Uganda is home to breathtaking natural beauty—from the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains and Lake Victoria to vast savannas and lush forests.
Uganda gained its independence from Britain in 1962. The land consists mostly of fertile plateaus, rolling hills, and extensive lakes. The climate is tropical, with two rainy seasons (March–May and September–November) and dry seasons (December–February and June–August). We will hold our medical outreach in February in dry season.
More than 40% of the population lives below the poverty line. The economy relies heavily on agriculture, with coffee, tea, and fish among the country’s major exports. Although Uganda has made progress in recent years, challenges such as poverty, limited infrastructure, and access to healthcare remain significant in rural areas.
English and Swahili are the official languages, but Uganda is home to over 40 different ethnic groups, each with its own language and cultural traditions. We will be serving an unreached people group in the Northern part of Uganda that has its own language. We will take a small flight in country as the people we are serving are 12 hours from the capital of Kampala. The people group has a population of over 1 million people with the majority of the population following Islam. There are less than 2% believers in Jesus.
Education is officially compulsory for children between ages 6 and 13, but school attendance can be inconsistent in rural areas due to poverty and limited resources.
The life expectancy in Uganda is approximately 64 years for men and 69 years for women. Malaria, HIV/AIDS, and other preventable diseases remain major health challenges. While medical services have improved in the capital, Kampala, rural communities still struggle with limited access to healthcare, medicine, and trained providers. Many Ugandans living in remote areas have never seen a physician.
Please consider joining Mission Partners for Christ in providing a 4-day medical clinic for the unreached and underserved people of Uganda. We will work alongside our trusted local partners who are deeply invested in the communities we serve. By using your gifts, skills, and compassion, you can make a lasting impact for God’s kingdom through this medical outreach. You will strengthen your faith, build meaningful relationships, and may even witness God’s healing power in remarkable ways.
Register today as trips often fill up a year in advance. Sorry, there are no more spaces for non-medical participants on this trip.

Please note: First-time volunteers will be required to have a one-on-one debrief meeting with founder Sheri Postma to discuss their experience, address any questions, and ensure readiness for future mission opportunities. This is to help each volunteer have the most meaningful and positive experience possible.
